The History of the McMiimville Warren County Senior Center Thrift Shop

The Thrift Shop began in 1982 with Ginny Bates as the organizer, and it brought in $7,000 the first year. The shop is located at 301 South High St. in McMinnville. The City of McMinnville donated the space and utilities. The shop began with one paid staff member with several volunteers.

Donations from individuals of clothing, appliances, household such as dishes, sheets, pillow-cases, blankets, and miscellaneous items such as jewelry, books are dropped off at the location. These donated items are then sorted and put on the sales floor. The prices are fantastic and there are a lot of good things to purchase. You can always find a variety of things in the shop.

We do assist burnout's with clothing. They need to get a form stating the family has had a fire; the form must be signed by the fire department. This is one way we give back to our community.

Although prices are more than reasonable at the thrift shop, it is the main fundraiser for the senior center.
