The McMinnville Warren County
Senior Center, Inc. is a direct outgrowth of the 1965 Older
Americans Act which was passed by Congress to assist older persons
to achieve some of the following objectives:
1. Retirement in health, honor and dignity.
2. Pursuit of meaningful activity.
3. Freedom, independence, and the free exercise of
individual initiative in planning and managing their own lives.
The McMinnville Warren County Senior
Center serves as a focal point in the community where older persons
as individuals or groups come together for services and activities
which enhance their dignity, support their independence and
encourage their involvement in and with the community.
There are several types of programs
offered at the center. Just visiting with each other, a noon meal,
recreation opportunities, playing cards, billiards, special occasion
parties, periodic dances and tournaments, and one day trips
highlight many of the events.
Health Promotion and Wellness
programs, educational activities and services promoting individual
lifestyles are also vital parts of the daily activities at the
center.
The only requirement is that an
individual be 60 years of age or over. It is necessary to complete a
Basic Client Information Form then make reservations for activities
in which they are interested.
There are no memberships dues. Many
services are offered at no charge. Others are offered for a
suggested donation depending on the activity. Arrangements can be
made in case of financial needs in some situations. |
